3.0 out of 5 stars Change my opinion..., 24 Jan 2010
By Pavlos A. Katsaros (Athens, Greece) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
what I have written in the past...

If you see the specs it seems ok but in reality this is a very slow machine.
So slow it becomes useless. I bought it for using it in my bed but it takes so much time to do a simple thing I returned back to my notebook. It takes a lot of time to boot, a lot of time to load even internet explorer and so on...
I also tried to put google chrome but it goes up to 100% CPU... Also the on screen keyboard is not so usefull.
Very good idea but not good implementation...
i'll wait for Apple Tablet...

Solution...
I have downloaded all new drivers and stuff from archos, deleted all the old ones and installed all the new.
Also I have replaced the on screen keyboard with the new one. Also I have installed all new upgrades for Windows 7 from Microsoft.
Now the machine has a good speed (not perfect) but it is like a normal netbook. I also bought a wireless keyboard and mouse for in house work.

1.0 out of 5 stars slow and useless, 26 Jan 2010

Archos 9 PC 8.9 inch Tablet (Intel Atom Z510 1.1GHz 1024MB 60GB TFT BT Windows 7) - Black
I bought this machine thinking I was buying into new technology
What a let down
windows 7 it took ages to boot up was so slow in running I thought the touch screen was not working but the machine is so slow
I bought it with the intension of replacing my archos 5
I would not waste the money
I will wait till archos sort it out properly
I also wasted the money on a leather case for this machine, never had it long enough to use the case
Also msn messenger video always froze the whole thing up I would not recommend this machine to anyone
Sorry to archos
But normally your stuff is leading edge but unfortunately not with this

2.0 out of 5 stars Not user friendly product, 20 Feb 2010
By Ing Direct "Juan Barrionuevo" (Spain) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
At first, it looks fine... but when you start to use it you realise that is not user friendly.
- Virtual keyboard doesn't respond appropriately
- Windows 7 is not a full package, so you can customize almost nothing or you have to pay for a full Windows 7. This is not advise in anywhere.
- Poor connectivity: Just one usb port; if you want to extend connectivity options you need to buy a "replicator port" device and is not easy to find it.

In summary: Nice device in terms of aspect but very poor product in terms of functionallity.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little tinkering and this thing can really be fun to use.
Can't really complain about some of the posts listed here. When I first got the unit I, too, found it to be slow. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Wait for the Apple iPad or wait until the Archos 9 drops in price

1.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the hype and wait six months
This is a VERY low spec machine. In addition, it doesn't even use the home premium version of Windows 7, relying instead on the starter edition - which is the one that DOESN'T... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A great piece of kit
This a brilliant piece of kit. The touch screen does take getting used to, but once you do, you wonder why all netbooks aren't like this. Read more
