I was replying to a comment wrote so much thoughti might as well review the tv! i have this tv, absolutely flawless, comments on the internet about uneven backlight, bleed, NOTHING on mine, picture second to none. Sound could be better but is a slim tv, if your paying this for a tv you should be getting the surround sound set up. Blacks are inky, the BlueRay 24p is just fantastic and for sports motion flow is brilliant (minimal/no two cricket ball defects etc)

had the X3500 before and this is notably better

if your main concerns are a beautiful picture, smooth motion, nice SD and gorgeous minimalist design, this TV is a must. Game mode is clocked at around 40ms input lag (if your thinking response time, read up), not the best but damn near, only the z4500, a couple of LCDs and the Pioneer plasmas are faster, samsungs, forget about it, awful lag, useless as gaming tvs. This tv is fine for all but the most hardcore Fighting game gamers (id go so far as to say FPS is minimally impacted & harcore gamers who care about lag should be buying TN LCD monitors anyway). In addition, I have a proven ~0ms lag ASUS monitor and the difference is noticable (im sensitive to this stuff) but minute and insignificant (also, i upgraded the firmware and it reduced the effect to the point im not sure i even notice anymore)

Also, gamemode picture quality is not rubbish like most sets. Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, Uncharted 2 look fabulous on this set.

so im summary, if this is just for Games, then you should try and get a slightly faster and cheaper z4500 (~10ms input lag), but if you want it for games plus a little bit more you cannot go wrong with this fantastic set. it oozes quality and beauty. havent seen a tv i like more yet and will certainly do you for the few years before you upgrade to a 3D OLED set!

I purchased this a week ago to replace an older Sony LCD. It took about 5 minutes to get it out of the box, fit the stand, attach the cables and start it up. I have Sky+HD and a Sony Blu Ray player. The picture was fabulous on both right from the start although I did some small adjustments later to get it perfect.

The 200Hz motionflow is really good. No judder on fast pans. Black is really black. Remote controls both Sony boxes (bluRay and Surround amp) and the Sky+HD box as well as the TV.

Only niggle is that the instruction manual is built in to the TV rather than in a book.

Have connected to the BBC RSS feed and works really well.

This TV is more expensive than other 40 inch full HD TVs but, boy, is it worth the extra cash.

This was an impulse purchase, replacing my 32" Bravia which was only a year old.
For HD tv and Blu-Ray it's excellent. We love it.
I am disappointed that you can't name the inputs as I could on my earlier model. With inputs from Sky, Blu-Ray, DVD, laptop, Freeview recorder it's hard to remember which port is which. Why did Sony remove this functionality I cannot imagine.
Other than that it's perfect.
