Product Description

CD Description

“I’ve just spent a lot of time listening to the tapes of our band — from Nottoden, the big festival in Norway, the date we played in London, when Jeff’s old friend Randy Bachman came onstage to join him, and some tracks recorded at Jeff’s club in Toronto. Jeff was on top form, positive, well, and, as always, the rest of us gave him the support he could always rely on. You’ll find some Chicago classics, some old r&b, a taste of psychedelia, and some pop classics from a bygone era — “Teach Your Children Well,” “Come Together,” and his biggest hit “Angel Eyes.”

Whenever we played — in Europe, the U.S. or at home in Canada — Jeff always gave his best, even in the last days when he was seriously ill. Around the world, thousands of fans will enjoy this CD. I believe Jeff was one of a kind and it's doubtful there will ever be another one like him. At the very end of the last song, “Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me,” Jeff can be heard saying ”That was fun, and that’s what it’s all about.” And so it is.--Alec Fraser

3.0 out of 5 stars One For Fans Only, 9 Sep 2009

Jeff Healey was a truly talented musician, but sadly the live tracks on the CD portion of this two disc collection don't do justice to the quality of his work.

If you want to know what this man was all about then you should buy the first three albums he and the band produced; See The Light, Hell To Pay and Feel This are all outstanding works that I can't recommend highly enough.

Fortunately the DVD is rather better and actually makes this purchase worthwhile. Watching Jeff perform in 2007 is a revelation and you can gain a sense of how good his technical skills really were.

4.0 out of 5 stars ...an excellent testimonial..., 23 Sep 2009
By Mr. H "the-rocker.co.uk" (Embra) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
The late Jeff Healey had returned to the Blues shortly before his passing, and this CD/DVD combo rounds up live material from 2006/2007. It's been issued with the co-operation of his family, which is nice, and acts as a good showcase for Healeys work as a rock and Blues interpreter across 11 tracks on CD and 8 on the DVD.

There won't be any surprises here for folks familiar with his work, as he ranges from the pop of 'I Think I Love You Too Much' and the balladry of 'Angel Eyes' through the hard Blues of 'I'm Ready' and 'Stop Breaking Down' into left field covers like 'Teach Your Children Well'. Because it's the diversity of his choices that make Healey unusual amongst Blues interpreters.

He's in good voice and his guitar playing is impeccable. He hands over the microphone to band members Dave Murphy and Alec Fraser for a few tunes with the formers turn on the Allman Brothers Bands 'Whipping Post' the highlight. The DVD only replicates a couple of tunes, and sees him looking to AC/DC and Sam & Dave for inspiration.

It's an excellent release and one that shows the Jeff Healey in the best possible light.
