DVD Description

Comedic genius Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, who gets more than he bargained for when his expedition takes a wrong turn into the Land of the Lost. Now, Marshall, his crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist named Will (Danny McBride), have no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in a world full of marauding dinosaurs, fantastic creatures and laugh-out-loud comedy!

Synopsis

This big-screen adaptation of LAND OF THE LOST stars Will Ferrell as Dr. Rick Marshall, a quantum palaeontologist who has been discredited in the scientific world due to his strident belief in time travel as the cure for all of humanity's problems. After hitting an all-time low, giving a lecture to elementary school kids, Dr. Marshall meets an ambitious young scientist named Holly (Anna Friel), who tells him she has followed all his work and believes he's a genius. Spurred on by her enthusiasm, he finishes building the device that will allow him to time travel -- something he promptly does along with Holly, and white-trash fireworks salesman Will (Danny McBride), after Will leads them into a cave that seems like a promising place to test the new machine. They end up in a world full of dinosaurs, sand, and scary lizard-like creatures known as Sleestacks. They quickly lose the machine that brought them to this alternate universe, and if they ever want to return home, the trio must recover it with the help of Chaka (Jorma Taccone), the monkey-like friend they make in this strange place.

After reading all the reviews on here ,I felt that some were just expecting to much, it doesn't claim to be an oscar winning film , it is what it set out to be, it's funny in maybe a immature way but it got us all laughing and all in all was great family viewing.
If you like Will ferrell and his usual style of comedy then I'm sure you'll enjoy this as we did, if you are a bit above toilet humour and silly gags then maybe leave this well alone.

This film would probably have been better if it was aimed at a PG audience, but instead it has a weak PG plot, with added swearing.
The jokes were flimsy and a bit strange, but they didn't have the execution of other Will Ferrell projects to add the humour. The CGI was 80s style, and the costumes were low-budget.
Disappointed really, and wouldn't recommend it at all.

As a massive Will Ferrell fan i couldn't wait for this film, the tralier i saw looked good, plus it also had Danny Mcbride in it. It is a good film but not what you might excpect from the wonderfull Ferrell. In this he is to much of a superhero, and his one liners are too often out of place, as funny as they are. But this is certinaly a film you can enjoy with friends or family.

There are some brilliant one-liners from Ferrell which wouldn't be out of place in Anchorman (His best comedy) and will have you on the floor. Danny Mcbride to has his moments and delivers the kind of performance you expeect from him these days (Tropic Thunder, Hot Rod). There are some crazy moments in this film, some for which you may have to turn your brain of to enjoy fully. Such as the t-rex moments. The one thing though that really bugged me was Ferrell as a suprhero. It didn't work well and didn't seem believeable, but there isn't much in this film that is.

Overall it is packed with laughs and some entertaining action scenes. I would advise turning your brain off and watching with your mates. You'll be talking about it and quoting it for a while. Possibly the comedy of the year, along with the Hangover.
