Manufacturer's Description

Full-HD NeoPDP Models with built-in freesat, Superb Moving Picture Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities

The new Panasonic G10 Plasma range offers high-image-quality functions that will appeal to movie fans and gamers alike, along with a host of networking functions that will enhance the experience.

The High Definition G10 range with freesat built-in is a convenient and easy way to view over 140 digital TV and radio channels including brilliant HD programmes from the BBC and ITV - all for free. Freesat offers subscription-free HD services, gives you super fast digital text, as well as digital subtitles and audio description and as the freesat service is satellite based, further capacity for the expansion of HD services can be assured.

Neo PDP

With its next-generation plasma display panel (PDP) called NeoPDP this range offers better picture quality, higher efficiency and thinner dimensions than its predecessors. With this series, Panasonic has developed new phosphors and cell design technology for improved discharge and new circuit and drive technology to significantly reduce power loss.

As a result, Panasonic has improved motion image performance, contrast and colour reproduction in its plasma displays to achieve a level of picture quality that is simply unprecedented. To improve motion images, this series adopts Panasonic's 600Hz Sub-field Drive Intelligent Frame Creation Pro, which helps achieve 1080 line motion picture resolution. Even fast-moving objects are clear and sharp. Users enjoy a truly stunning viewing experience, especially with ultra-dynamic action and sports scenes such as motor car racing events and car chases.

This series also delivers a dynamic contrast of over 2,000,000:1 thanks to the increased brightness achieved by NeoPDP technology and refinements to Panasonic's Real Black Drive System. With these enhancements, the new models provide the kind of "infinite black" colour that pulls viewers right into the picture.

The 600-Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data, then optimises the sub-field to display fast-action scenes in full-HD resolution. And each frame is displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce after-effects.

Panasonic VIERA system VIERA link

Panasonic's VIERA system incorporates an improved panel production process and the new Real Black Drive system. A pre-discharge control system, the Real Black Drive system combines with NeoPDP technology to achieve next-generation black reproduction. When you're watching movies, VIERA renders images just the way the director intended, even in scenes where it's difficult to achieve a proper balance of light and dark.

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. VIERA Link performance has been further enhanced with LUMIX digital camera connection. By connecting a new LUMIX camera that has an HDMI output terminal to VIERA, you can use the VIERA remote to control the playback of images stored on the camera.

It's easy to view full-HD images with the SD Memory Card slot. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into VIERA to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects.

V-Audio Surround gives depth-sound-image effect by early-reflection data based on actual room measurement, that is generated from digital signal processor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent picture quality, 18 July 2009
By NeilR (West Yorkshire) - See all my reviews
Having bought the TX-P42G10 over a week ago I am very impressed with the standard definition picture via a Sky box. This is better than the Sony CRT we previously owned and has me wondering whether it is worth upgrading to Sky HD. I haven't been able to test Freesat as the connection into the standard Sky box does not fit the Freesat connection. Picture via Blue ray is stunning and the sound is better than I expected, having read some other reviews.

The only downside is the constant noise of the fans which can't be heard when watching action movies but at normal listening levels is distracting. Although it is not loud I am regularly aware of it and had I known this, I may have had second thoughts about buying.

    Update:

After running in the TV for a short while, the fans are now much less intrusive and I have been able to connect the sky cable to the Freesat input - the HD quality is first rate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Panasonc Plasma Full HD TV, 29 May 2009
By Mr. J. E. Kirkwood - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I can definately recommend this TV, the picture and ease of use is fantastic. It does exactly what it says on the tin, has a freeview tuner, an analogue one (if you still need it), and a Freesat tuner. All housed in a fairly slim unit. There are others that are a lot more svelt from Philips and LG, but I can't tell how thick it is when I'm watching from the other side so I don't care.

If you need more features, or indeed want a slimmer TV, there are new higher up the range TV's due out from Panasonic in the next month apparently. I didn't and bought the G10. When would I use the PIP or need THX certification on a TV this size when the picture is already fantastic compared to many LCD's.

If you need the push to click add to basket, do it you wont be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST TV you can get for under £1000, 23 Sep 2009
By R. Green "realathletic" (Sunbury-on-Thames, England) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
This is simply the BEST TV you can get for under £1000. I bought this tv for £799 in the 1st week of September.
The SD picture on this TV is really great and I was WoWed.
Sitting at 9-10 ft away it is really excellent, we often shimmy the sofa closer (6ft) and it is still great on most SD programmes. Colour, Contrast, Quality and ease of use all Top Drawer! The Sound is so good, I now only use my surround if we want it up really loud for the occasional big movie or big match.

BUT to see this TV at it's very best you need HD! which on Freesat is just BBC HD and the odd ITV match or programme.

SKY HD is a Must! My "I'm not really bothered about the picture" Mrs.G ... Was as absolutely BLOWN away as me!
The incredibly precise definition on HD on THIS amazing TV really makes the WORLD of difference watching: Sports (you can see the ball spinning and the games come alive), Movies (HUGELY better picture than my normal DVD of the same movie), Nature programmes (I sat my 8 and 10 yr old children down to watch a programme on Trees! and they were glued to it - as the images are so WOW!) oh and anythings else too i guess - just JUMPS out at you!
The thing a lot people don't know is that you get about 32 HD channels on SKY HD (ok 10 of them are movies and a couple are hopeless), but my viewing habits have changed, so now i reckon between 80-90% of my viewing is SKY HD,
and this TV gets the very best out of SKY HD.

so IN SHORT this IS the BEST Tv and a bargain at under £800, and then go to the cinema or eat out 1 time less eahc month and that pays for SKY HD with all the sport + movies too!

(Yes this is the best price you can get it at, but if you can get a 5 year warranty elsewhere for a similar price that would be an option.... )
