Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Full-HD NeoPDP Models with freesat built-in, Superb Moving Picture Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities. “freesat” is a digital satellite service that offers free HD (High-definition) TV programmes. With the G10 series, you can enjoy sharp pictures, vivid colours, multi-channel sound, and various services with the interactive contents.

600-Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data, then optimises the sub-field to display fast-action scenes in full-HD resolution. And each frame is displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects.

VIERA incorporate an improved panel production process and the new Real Black Drive system. A pre-discharge control system, the Real Black Drive system combines with NeoPDP technology to achieve next-generation black reproduction. When you're watching movies, VIERA renders images just the way the director intended, even in scenes where it's difficult to achieve a proper balance of light and dark.

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. VIERA Link performance has been further enhanced with LUMIX digital camera connection. By connecting a new LUMIX camera that has an HDMI output terminal to VIERA, you can use the VIERA remote to control the playback of images stored on the camera.

It's easy to view full-HD images with the SD Memory Card slot. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into VIERA to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects.

V-Audio Surround gives depth-sound-image effect by early-reflection data based on actual room measurement, that is generated from digital signal processor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning picture quality..., 28 May 2009
By nicjaytee (London) - See all my reviews
    (TOP 100 REVIEWER)
With the rapidly increasing numbers of "true HD" TVs now out there, which one do you choose for your main living room set up? Well, here's a great contender for your money. In either its 42" or 46" iteration the picture quality from this latest "mid range" Panasonic plasma TV is absolutely superb and still maintains a visible lead over the best top end LCD TVs for sheer depth of colour and "realism" - check it out in store with a fast moving Blu-ray movie if you need convincing. And, if you've got a satellite dish, the built in Freesat delivers BBC HD and ITV1 HD in all their stunning glory... even standard definition programmes look better than you've seen them before.

Downsides? None really, although you really do need a full home cinema system and a blu-ray player to go with it and, to make life easier and to avoid multiple hand controllers, you'll need to stick with Panasonic's offerings here - which could be a problem if you already already own other manufacturers' products. Also, to get more HD content than just BBC HD and the, currently, extremely limited broadcasts on ITV1 HD you need a SKY HD box, not just Freesat - but that's a generic problem with HD broadcasting in the UK.

However, combine this TV with Panasonic's equally superb SC-BT100 Blu-ray disc Home Cinema system (in its full 5.1, five speaker configuration) and you'll be knocked out by what you get... incredible, cinema quality pictures & sound at a price that, even a year ago, was unthinkably cheap.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic G10 Plasma, 26 Dec 2009
By G. Wright (Liverpool, UK) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I bought this 46inch G10 TV as a replacement for my old Panasonic Plasma TV, which was needed elsewhere. Before buying I looked around at various other types of TV's including Samsung Led TV's which I like a lot, but being that there based on Lcd technology they still have issues with fast movement and can't generate black properly so I decided against them. My old Panasonic TV was a budget model and the picture quality on this model is easily twice as good as the old one, the biggest difference is during dark scenes where it has no difficulty in rendering complex detail naturally, the budget model would lose a lot of the information on screen and couldn't seem to handle the detail at all.

The main reason I bought this TV though wasn't just because I picked it up cheap in the sales which I did, but because it has a built in freesat hd decoder, anyone who owns a flat screen TV will tell you that the hardest part about watching one is watching standard def TV up converted on it. I had been considering upgrading to Sky hd after seeing how good it looked at a friends house and after a couple of weeks of watching bbc and itv hd I can tell you that the quality is excellent easily as good as Sky hd if not better with no noise or pixelation, it generates a very natural image. The Freesat image is technically slightly less than the quality of a blu ray player, but I found the movies I watched on freesat hd looked more natural and detailed than Blu ray images but that just might be my player. BBC hd is also showing all of its movies in the proper aspect ratio instead of panning and scanning like it does on its main channels, channel four and five are due to launch later on. This TV also has a built in Ethernet connector for use with bbc iplayer which is due to launch later on freesat.

The picture and the black level on this TV is excellent and as good as a Pioneer Kuro which costs about 3 grand, but i realy should give it 4.5 stars instead of 5 because the sound on this TV is just as weak as on my old model and as a result I will probably have to invest in a sound system. But ime going to give it the 5 stars anyway because theres no other manufacturers out there who can produce such a great TV image as this except pioneer and there prices are ridiculous.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent product, 6 Jan 2010

This TV is excellent in all respects, even the built in sound system is very good. Having bought it with two other Panasonic products I am disappointed not to have been able to use only one of the controllers as advertised. We have it wall mounted, very impressive.
