4.0 out of 5 stars Use the sun to re-charge your mobile phone., 12 Feb 2008
By I. Beaumont (Surrey, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I got one of these for Christmas and have been using it now for 7 weeks.
My main reason for getting one was the "eco" reason - to use the solar charger to charge my phone and MP3 player.

I had a lot of problems initially - when I used to try to charge one of two Nokia phones I have the device would switch off. The customer service people at Powermonkey were great though - and I got a new one sent out and have had no such problems.

I leave the power monkey charging by day on a south facing window sill. Even in rainy England during the winter months I find that I have enough power to can recharge my phone every 2 or 3 days. So I don't expect to ever have to charge my phone from the mains again.

Lots of adaptors/plugs - so you should be able to charge most things any where in the world.

Would of giving it 5 stars, except for the initial problems and also sometimes it reports it has charge, only then when you plug it in to charge do you find out it wasn't being completely honest!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish!!!!!!, 7 Jul 2009
By Mrs. C. Adams "Caggi" (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
bought this as a present for my husband as he goes to festivals and hates having to queue to charge his phone, he was really chuffed with the idea of this product but since he has started to use it (took to Glastonbury)all he has done is complain about it, On the sunniest day at Glastonbury he had the powermonkey on charge for 7 hours which only gave about a third or the power - this then only changed his phone for 2 minutes before it ran out. Since he got back he has had it hanging in our bedroom window constantly and it still has not got past half way to charging! I would not recommend this product to anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Portable Charging
I pick up my phone to go out and the battery is always flat, with this I can charge it in my pocket. As a bonus I can top up the charger from the sun.
