I actually stumbled upon Jo Hamilton via MySpace and instantly fell in love with her music. I was excited to find that the release of her debut album was imminent. I was unable to attend the launch party, but duly ordered my copy of the album as soon as it was released.

This morning it arrived. It comes in a "double gate-fold" digipack styled case adorned by some beautiful artwork.

I've listened straight through 3 times so far and have to say I'm blown away by both Jo's stunning performance and the beautifully crafted music and production. Each time you listen to a track it yields something new you didn't experience on the previous listening, be it a little "found sound" snuck into the rhythm or Jo herself whispering something quietly in one ear... enticing you listen again even more closely.

I would say my favourite track so far is "All in Adoration" which, in my mind (a somewhat ephemeral and dangerous place!), conjures memories of Michael Nyman's soundtrack to the film "The Draughtsman's Contract mixed with beautiful vocals of the quality of such artists as Kate Bush.

If you love unusual music, buy this album. If you love high quality, intelligent music, buy this album. If you value musicianship and performance, buy this album. You won't be disappointed.
