SARA WATKINS is the debut solo album by the fiddler and singer from the bluegrass group Nickel Creek. Produced by Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones and featuring guest appearances byGillian Welch and David Rawlings, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Benmont Tench, Elvis Costello and the Attractions' Pete Thomas, and several of her Nickel Creek bandmates, SARA WATKINS is a modern-day southern California country-rock album. Songs by Jimmie Rodgers, John Hartford, Norman Blake, Tom Waits, and Jon Brion sit alongside Watkins originals, all of them given arrangements that draw from vintage country, singer-songwriter pop, and alternative rock influences. Highlights include "Long Hot Summer Days" and "All This Time".

After 18 years as the Violinist with Nickel Creek, definitely worth a listen, Sara has at last plunged in and released a solo album. Aided by her former Nickel Creek partners and a host of equally talented musicians she shows just what she can do.
Very enjoyable. Give it a try

SARA WATKINS FIRST CAME TO LIGHT IN THE BAND NICKEL CREEK ALONG WITH THEM HAD HUGH SUCCESS NOW SHE HOPES TO CARRY ON AND WITH THIS CD I AM SURE THERES MORE TO COME SHE IS A FANTASTIC FIDDLE PLAYER [ALISON KRAUSS WATCH OUT] BOTH SEAN WATKINS AND CHRIS THILE FROM NICKEL CREEK GUEST ON THIS CD AS DOES GILLIAN WELCH FIRST HERD A SONG FROM THIS CD ON BOB HARRIS COUNTRY HOUR THE NEXT DAY BOUGHT THE CD AND ITS WONDERFUL SONGS SOME ARE INSTERMENTAL SOME WRITTEN BY SARA WATKINS THERES A GREAT COVER OFF A JIMMIE RODGERS SONG [ANY OLD TIME ALL] I THINK HER BEST IS STILL TO COME

A very good album from the ex-Nickel Creek fiddler. Sensitively produced by John Paul Jones it includes an excellent mixture of styles and moods, with some intersting guest appearances.
