Manufacturer's Description

FAMILY TREE SOFTWARE "" FOREWORD BY NICK BARRATT, Resident Genealogist on the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are?

"PCs and the Internet have made the task of researching your family history much easier than ever before. With vast amounts of data now archived on the internet, the odds of success for those seeking information on their heritage has dramatically increased.

Using this Family Tree Software, you can organise and store all the data you find on your family and ancestors and then create trees, charts, albums and reports to share with family and friends. Tracing your roots will take some investigative work and lots of time, but the end result will be a truly rewarding and emotional journey into your past!"

ABOUT THE TV SERIES
Who Do You Think You Are? took the world's favourite pastime, genealogy and turned it into a TV phenomenon. The show follows the sometimes emotional stories of well-known personalities as they search for their ancestors. From tales of fortunes lost, to families found, their stories take us around the world and are full of memorable moments.

4.0 out of 5 stars Family Tree Maker performance, 5 Feb 2009

Very well designed software - able to capture all the details that I want to retain. Only problem is that it does not always save what I entered - I have had to dig out my source documents several times to enter information - this is very time-consuming and frustrating.. I claims to autosave, but clearly it does not.

2.0 out of 5 stars Style over substance, 11 Jan 2009
By Warpdriver "Andy" (Dagenham Essex UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Who Do You Think You Are? Family Tree Maker Deluxe Edition (DVD-ROM)
Being a much satisfied customer of the 2005 incarnation of this program, I looked forward to the improved functionality of the newer version.

Oh dear, what a dissapointment I had, when after loading it up, it let me down from the start. The 2005 version is far clearer in both its style, and clarity, with the basic screen being far too crowded. This is a case of the makers trying to add too many functions, to what after all is a family tree program.

The real shame is the loss of the "family" view from the 2005 version, instead supplanting it with a crowded "tree" view.

One nice thing added, is the "relationship" box, which gives you an accurate idea how you are related to the person highlighted.

Most people approaching their tree for the first time, and using this program will no doubt dissagree with me, but I am sticking to my older version for now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Family Tree Maker, 26 Nov 2009

I am a satisfied user of FTM 10. Since the involvement of Ancestry.com things have gone downhill. FTM10 is simple and uncomplicated. Now ancestry.com want to hook you into their subscription package. I have been doing my genealogy intermitently for over thirty years and have over 1300 names on my database. I dislike the idea of paying a subscription when I am not getting the benefit.
