This Goodmans box was supplied as a replacement for a Grundig freesat HD box that had developed an intermittent fault (losing sound and locking up).

The installation went smoothly and the picture was sharp and clear.
There was no HDMI cable in the box (unlike other manufacturers) only a scart cable.
The menus were straightforward.

For the first couple of weeks the box worked perfectly. (The Humax scores better for navigation and on other points but the Goodmans is perfectly OK.)

Then Goodmans distributed a software update which downloaded itself on 14 October. Since then the box continually resets itself. Goodmans are aware of the issue and say a fix will be downloaded "in the next few days". Until that happens the box is broke. There is no way to reset the firmware to factory settings.

For that reason this box gets a low rating. To allow such a dramatic fault through that is affecting many of the boxes in use is not a good ploy. There are other non-related manufacturers and my recommendation would be Humax.

Quite simply this receiver is diabolical. After a good install and set up, the box worked for a day or so then developed a series of faults which were present every time the box was switched on.

Box would switch itself off for no reason. Refused to switch itself on until power supply was switched off and on agian.

Green horizontal bar would appear across screen which was on all channels appearing after certain button presses. Power off and on to cure.

Sound would mute at regular intervals especially when subtitles were selected. Power off/on to cure.

Hand control would lock up / box as well. Power off/on to cure.

Using a scart lead affected the picture quality as a very slight superimposed picture could be seen scolling from right to left especially during a dull scene on a television programme.

Box suddenley locks up. Power off/on to cure.

Above faults appear every time the box is in use.

All in all a very poor product. I reverted back to my Philex receiver although BBC3 BBC 4 are not present for some reason.

The best place for the Goodmans box is in a box or a dustbin, which it will be put as I dont have any faith in it at all.

Purchased this receiver for HD but very disappointed with it to say the least.

(Power off/on at wall socket-power supply).

Well done Goodmans. Back to the drawing board eh!

Goodmans GFSAT200HD Freesat HD Digital BoxThis product is very poor. The highlight was the easy-setup, but after this initial euphoria it was downhill from then on. The problems:

- No HDMI cable.
- The box locks up intermittently with no sound and no response.
- The response time for changing channels is very slow.
- The system occasionally updates its firmware with various associated issues, including freezing the system which requires a power-reset.

All-in-all I would not recommend this product to anyoGoodmans GFSAT200HD Freesat HD Digital Boxne.
