Firstly, you can't actually tell the time on the thing and it's impossible to set the correct time or the correct wake up time on it.

And secondly, the motor that changes the dial from night to day is so noisy it actually wakes my daughter up....No I don't want her getting up before a certain time but I certainly don't want her waking up at that certain time if she is actually going to sleep longer.

A waste of money!

I bought this to try and keep my daughter in bed until the desired time to get up. She is nearly 3. She loved it and understood how it worked, if she woke up and the picture was still of Dora at night time then it was not time to get up yet. It was very easy to adjust at night if you wanted to reset the wake up time. On the downside, when the picture changes from night to day it makes a noise for about 3 seconds that is loud enough to wake her up. I tend to set it now past the time I don't mind her up at, with the result that most mornings when she gets out of bed, Dora still says its night time. It does'nt seem to matter too much to her and is definately a good incentive to encourage staying in bed. I'm still glad I got it.

We needed a clock to try and get our 3.5 year old daughter to stay in bed all night. We were tempted by more expensive versions but saw this and thought it was worth a try. She loves it! It is an adequate night light but best if it can be put next to the child's bed. Which to be honest would be the best place anyway so they can see it. Our daughter needs night lights so she has this next to her bed and 2 other lights in the room. So it has worked in that it adds security, tells her when she should be in bed and get up and that she likes it.
The cons would be - the batteries get used up quite quickly.. though this was our only option as the only socket is the other side of the room. You CAN tell the time on it but it's not 100% accurate down to the minute. And it is basic. Not like some of the more expensive night light clocks on the market.
But if you want something to show day from night and to be a gentle night light then this is it.
