I would definately not recommend putting young rats in it. The bars are quite widely spaced and despite now being 6 months old my furbabies are still wiggling their way to freedom on a regular basis.
However, this cage is still an excellent buy.
The shelves are easy to keep clean and as they are not fixed you can move them around to change the layout in a few minutes. The roof is held in place with large clips so that you easily clean the top levels by lifting it up or even taking it off. It has 6 doors, (2 large ones on the front, 2 smaller ones on each side), so there is easy access to all areas of the cage. Another bonus is that the stand has wheels which is great if you need to move it around. The cage is quite easy to put together but if your furries are nibblers it might be worth getting metal clips to hold everything in place as the plastic ones supplied don't withstand much chewing.
