5.0 out of 5 stars listen up!, 5 Feb 2008

Another rockin' bit of Morrissey and worth humming along to (love the wailing intro; but isn't the version played on the radio longer?). You may not be aware that track 2 'The Last of the famous International playboys' is a live recording from the Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City 27th October 2007 (about tea time.)

I like That's How People Grow Up. Ronnie Kray is not dead. This is vintage Morrissey!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Same Old Same Old, 10 Feb 2008
By David Fitzgerald - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I went into Virgin yesterday to see about purchasing Mozzer's latest "Hits" offering. (how many "Greatest" has he released so far?) The bog standard - "you have em all before except for the two new records" CD was 19 euro. The soft cover 2 CD with Live album was.....(drum roll please) 29 euro!
The guy in the shop advised me to try itunes which I had never signed up to before, preferring the "real thing" in my hands. So I went looking for this 2CD record on itunes but couldn't find it anywhere. The closest I came was the single "That's how people grow up" which was my first itunes download.
Disappointed. It's like a "this is how you write a Morrissey record" training course.
1: Make it short: 3 minutes or under
2: Have a serious physical injury in it ("broke my spine")
3: Make it busy and loud with lots of guitar overdubs
4: Have some falsetto and yodelling on it
5 And a bit of self-pity which is of course tongue in cheek but loses its wit somewhere along the away
Morrissey seems to be living in his own world of late with very little inspiration
On a positive note, this would make a great Eurovision song and would give our turkey a run for his money.
Schnecke 1916
(Morrissey fan for longer than I care to remember)
