5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous !!, 19 Jun 2008
Before I bought this, I did have some reservations. Would the screen be to small to work with?, would the keyboard be horrible to use? Would I struggle with a non-microsoft machine and need to install XP?

Machine arrived on a Monday morning. I didn't bother to install XP. By Monday afternoon I am taking it around the house like an adopted puppy, Tuesday, I'm sitting in town for 4 hours waiting for a service and MOT on the car. Out she comes from my ruck sack, I find a hot-spot, download my email (on 3 different email accounts from 2 different servers), browsed the web, updated a Microsoft power-point document format, wrote some letters in Microsoft Word document format (all stored on an 8 gig flash card that I bought separately) and logged onto Skype. Two people came over to ask me what this machine was and where I got it.. !!

The build quality is excellent. The screen is great for the size, the keyboard is wonderfully tactile and responsive, the software is inuitive to use - I can't think of a single moan especially just as one other reviewer commented on the wirless, internet download an email down load is quicker on this than my HP desktop !!

I know that ASUS have released a version of this machine with a slightly bigger screen (it's more expensive) but this one does me just fine. although it comes with a little bag to put the machine in, I have found an old portable DVD bag at home which she fits into and I can carry the power adaptor in the zipper compartment - ideal.

Final comments - I can't recommend it enough - t's absolutely brilliant for mobile working. Buy one !! and be the envy of all your friends and colleagues, and then wonder how you managed without it !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Charles Armstrong, 7 May 2008

If you just want to use this for working on the move i.e. editing docs, skype calls, browsing etc it's perfect. The integration with Linux is great - for example if you leave it on with skype then the screen powers down etc, but the speaker still rings when you have an incoming call. The size is great - fits easily on the fold down meal tray on a plane.

In you are a geek then you have a full linux distribution underneath. I have installed lots of apps including a full java development kit. It is this years nerd toy so there are lots of posts on the web about how to use it as an on the move development environment.

For UK users - I found a really cool £5 baby baby mouse in ASDA - Trust MI-2650mp Optical retractable USB Micro Mouse - in fact. They look so cute together!

5.0 out of 5 stars Runs Xp beautifully!, 25 May 2008
By C. Campbell "robot killer" (your momma) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this model and supplemented the memory with a 2GB SD card, 4GB USB stick and an 80GB portable lacie external HD. So for only £50 extra this sub-book has memory of 90GB.

Installing Xp is easy and all the required drivers are in the box from ASUS. I have since installed Photoshop CS2, Microsoft Office, Firefox, Acrobat Pro and more.

This tiny PC will do everything that your desktop can do if you add an external CD drive.

It is only the size and weight of a small hardback book and looks totally awesome. People are always asking where I got it from.

It fits in my small man-bag, but my girlfriend has since bought one and it goes in her handbag. At last you can carry a capable laptop without it weighing you down. In fact you forget you even have it with you.

The WiFi is powerful, working even better than my housemates Dell and HP laptops.

Well worth two hundred of your english beans!

x
