This is a fine collection of mid-tempo and uplifting songs. It might initially seem lightweight, but make no mistake, these are sophisticated tunes that reward repeated listens.

Clare's voice is utterly charming, somewhere between Billie Holiday and Kate Bush, backed up by lush (multi-tracked) string performances by her amazing band. The songwriting is comparable to Rufus Wainwright's multi-section style, or for further comparison, think of a jazzier version of Feist.

The highlights for me occur in the first half, including Nothing/Nowhere, (an excellent duet with Sufjan Stevens) and the bitter-sweet "Cook for you".

Along with the equally neglected Patrick Watson, this is my album of the year (2007). If you like baroque pop (Sufjan, Wainwright, Newsom et al) you won't be disappointed.

This has to be one of the best albums I have bought this year. Intelligent and sophisticated song writing coupled with fantastic arrangements - this is a must have!

I heard Clare and the Reasons do a session on 6Music and I was hooked straight away. The subjects of the songs are slightly off beat (Pluto being downgraded as a planet anyone?) but that makes the album all the more charming. Certainly Alphabet City and Cook for you are the two tracks that stand out - this is a great album for listening to at the end of a hard day with a glass of wine, chilling out. But don't just take my word for it - try it yourself!!

I originally heard Pluto on a sampler and was just captivated, this whole album is so original and stands head and shoulders above much of the formulaic mush that is being churned out at the moment.
