Amazon.co.uk Review

Let’s deal with the films quickly. The first Spider-Man movie arrived after the webslinger had been stuck in Hollywood development hell for the best part of a decade at least. Introducing Tobey Maguire in the title role, it was a strong opener for the franchise, and laid the path towards the inevitable sequel. And what a sequel Spider-Man 2 was: genuinely expanding on the ground of the first film, and introducing the best villain of the series to date with Doctor Octopus, it remains a very high peak for the franchise. Film three? Not so good, with three villains fighting for attention space, and Spidey himself hardly at his best. It was still a decent film, just not up to the standards of those that preceded it.

Yet whichever your favourite of the Spider-Man films is, you’re still likely to be blown away by its Blu-ray transfer. Given that the movies are among the most expensive of the past decade to make, it’s unsurprising that they’re packed with details, and that they splatter the screen with colour, action and frenetic swinging through the city streets. The colour palette looks terrific in high definition, and the vibrancy of the soundstage too makes these potential reference discs.

You get a fair selection of extras across the three films too, and all this bodes well for the release of the fourth Spider-Man movie in 2011. Until then, this Blu-ray set is very much worthy of your time and financial investment. --Jon Foster

Synopsis

Features the adventures of the famous webslinger as he battles numerous adversaries in Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3.
In Spider-Man, high school student Peter Parker gets bitten by a genetically modified spider whilst on a school trip to a University laboratory. Overnight Peter develops supernatural powers and extreme strength. At first he uses his new talents for his own material gain but Peter eventually comes to the conclusion that he must use his new found abilities to fight evil as the super-hero Spider-Man.
In Spider-Man 2 Peter Parker is having problems with his double life as the superhero Spider-Man and as things get worse he decides never to be Spider-Man again. It's only when the scientist Dr Otto Octavius becomes deformed in a freak accident into Dr Octopus that he realises that only Spider-Man can stop him.
In Spider-Man 3, the webbed superhero and his girlfriend, Mary Jane, get embroiled in a love triangle while he is forced to confront a new slate of dastardly villains and a power that changes his very personality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great films, great quality!, 22 Oct 2009

This review is from: Spider-Man Trilogy [Blu-ray] [2002] (Blu-ray)
Despite owning all 3 Spidey films on DVD, I took the plunge and bought this set to try out my new Blu-Ray player. I am certainly not dissapointed! Spiderman 3 is, obviously, the best in terms of picture quality (being the newest), and there are some grainy traces in certain scenes on the first two, unfortunately. However, I compared a scene from SM2 on my DVD and Blu-Ray - what an improvement!! I am very glad I bought this, the greatest superhero trilogy ever, and would recommend it to anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spider-Man Trilogy [Blu-ray], 9 Feb 2008

This review is from: Spider-Man Trilogy [Blu-ray] [2002] (Blu-ray)
Absolutely Amazing (pun intended!). I was looking to buy just Spider-Man 3 on blu ray but then I came across this boxset for only £8 extra with the first 2 films also (this is the only set yu can get them in at the mo as far as i know). The sound is hugely improved on the first two films along with the third and the picture on each is crystal clear and amazingly high qaulity. An example would be Spidey swinging through the city-you are trult immersed in these scenes as the city backdrop feels alive as Spider_man himself. The visual effect this has on characters like Venom, The Green Goblin and especially Sandman are all greatly improved. The only downside is the lack of extras but this is made up for with some genuinely interesting making ofs on Spider-Man 3. This boxset is a must have for any MArvel fan or action film fan and is essential if you own an HD TV with either a blu ray player of the magnificent PS3. This is a MUST HAVE.
