Far more comprehensive than your standard greatest hits CD, this 2-disc collection charts the evoultion (minus the comeback Doll Revolution album) of a girl band who, as the sleeve blurb says, pre-dated the Spice Girls' girl power revolution. More than that, the Bangles were a proper band, self-formed rather than assembled, each capable of carrying a tune and playing their own instruments, and song-writers to boot.

This compilation takes us on a gentle, non-chronological wander through the heart of the Bangles' discography. There are the earlier, more raw sounds of their debut album All Over The Place ("Hero Takes a Fall", "Going Down to Liverpool"). More familiar to casual fans is the Different Light album, which includes their breakthrough single, the Prince-penned "Manic Monday", and the tongue-in-cheek "Walk Like an Egyptian". And finally - after a brief detour via their fantastic cover version of Simon & Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade of Winter" - there is Everything, their third and final pre-break-up album, which spawned "Eternal Flame" (the group's only UK number 1 single) and "In Your Room".

Just slip these CDs into your stereo, put on your shoulder pads and leg-warmers and listen to that unique combination of guitar lines and soaring harmonies which set The Bangles apart from any other girl band before or since. This is "proper" pop music, with a genuine heart.

All the hits and a lot more are on here. (The entire 'Different Light' album is featured!). I'd recommend buying it along with their comeback album 'Doll Revolution'. Sublime stuff from Miss Hoffs and co. You want and NEED this. Trust me.
