Following her 11:11 debut album, the second album from singer songwriter Maria Taylor is another strong set of well crafted tracks, some co-written by her brother and sister who also play on the album. Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst sings on the co-write Ballad Of Sean Foley and Jim Eno from Spoon also features. Maria reminds me of Avra Moore and being keen on that New Country music style, my favourite tracks are the sparse Clean Getaway, Small Part Of Me, Lost Time and My Own Fault which seem closest to that genre. However, she should not be pigeon-holed as other tracks such as Replay, Good Start and No Stars are just simply good strong songs.
The blend of guitars, organs, pianos and drums works very well along with the stongest virtue, that of the pureness and pleasure of the voice.
Unfortunately, she didnt claim 5 stars, as she has copied Martina McBride from way back, by including a self-indulgent little song which happens to be the short title track and in my opinion is best avoided.
