Synopsis

An updating and re-imagining of the classic 1970's sci-fi television show, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, a space adventure combining elements of STAR TREK, STAR WARS, and THE TERMINATOR. Human beings built the android Cylons to work as servants for them, only to have the robots rebel and disappear into space. A generation later however, the Cylons returned to destroy their former masters, and succeeded in eliminating the 12 worlds that mankind inhabited. Luckily, one group of people has managed to escape the genocide, lead by Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos), on board the massive space ship, Battlestar Galactica. But the struggle isn't over, as the ruthless Cylons continue to pursue the ship and the last surviving members of the human race. This vision of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA features a darker tone together with CGI special effects, and shares with other science fiction sagas a warning about the misuse of advanced technology. This 3-disc set features the first 10 episodes of season one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this copy!!, 3 Jan 2007
This is a great series but DON'T BUY THIS COPY - it is NOT the first series - it is episodes 1-10 out of 13 episodes and you will just end up doing what i did and having to buy the real first season (and wasting your money) - be warned

1.0 out of 5 stars Great series. However, this DVD is a rip-off, 25 Nov 2007
I bought this DVD under the false impression that it was the complete Series 1. In fact, it's just the first ten episodes, leaving you to shell out another £25 to buy the proper boxed set, just to get the missing three final episodes. I feel completely ripped-off and more than a little gullible. I'd very much like the manufacturers to explain exactly why they think anyone is really going to want (and willingly pay for) an incomplete series. They're clearly relying on people not checking the small print before they buy. A cynical money-making ploy from a manufacturer that obviously doesn't care about its customers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great series - But DON'T buy this DVD, 11 July 2007
This is not the full season 1 DVD set, only episodes 1-10 of 13.
Quite how this part set was released I don't know - but avoid it.
Also be aware there is a separate four episode mini-series that forms an intro to the series.
I'd definitely recommend the series - but buy the full season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap way of seeing series 1
Yes this is only episodes 1-10 and you really don't want to miss episodes 11-13. However, if you rent the final disk of the set (which you can do) from Amazon, this only costs... Read more
