Salon Boris have created a new, daring, fabulous, sexy sound that deserves to be recognised and given as wide an audience as possible.

The whole sound, vibe, feel of this album is utterly fabulous: the sound references back to the hi-days of 70s electro-Euro music, Sparks, etc, while having some similar routes to Goldfrapp's work, but utterly surpassing it. Great, cool singing and fascinating lyrics.

Somehow Salon Boris manage - unlike Goldfrapp - to invoke retro while creating something new - and of the future. It might be the Russian heritage and gorgeous tilt in her voice; it might be the experience of their journey from Russia to Glasgow, Scotland - allowing them to both embrace and have a certain distance from the Western popular culture they so clearly love and are a part of.

A wonderful, wonderous debut.
