A new and amazing talent! Kat Flint's vocals on Ohio will break your heart and Anticlimax will cheer you up for the rest of the week! A must for anyone who loves a cracking good tune! I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending this cd to everyone who loves music!

I saw Kat Flint supporting Cara Dillon last week - maybe I'm too old to be part of the MySpace generation, but I'd never heard of her before.

My loss.

I thought, at the time, that her vocal range was surprising - I think that it's getting increasingly rare these days to find someone who can hit both high and low notes perfectly every time, something that Ms Flint does with abandon. The comparison that came to mind at the time (and I'm only talking about the vocals here) is Kate Bush. Is that a bad thing? Probably not? The accompaniment was simple in the extreme - just an acoustic guitar - but was very effective.

So I bought the EP - admittedly, with some trepidation, as you can never be sure how someone you've only seen live will translate into the recorded environment.

Pleasingly, the translation is pretty good: her voice doesn't quite capture the live essence or appeal, but the songs stand up extremely well, even with the added instrumentation. This is certainly someone that I'll be keeping an eye on in the future.

My only gripe? I've had "Anticlimax" going round and round my head for the last 48 hours now. I wake up - I hear it. I sit at my desk at work - I hear it. Please stop.

This is a superb EP. I bought it from the artist in the back room of a North London pub after seeing her perform. Months later, I'm still listening to it frequently. Fearsome Crowd and Blinking are my favourite tracks, but there really isn't a weak song here. Kat Flint is an outstanding talent. Her voice is scintillating and her tunes are addictive. Gorgeous stuff - buy it!
