4.0 out of 5 stars Ass-kicker, 22 Jan 2008
By Niall O'Shea (Manchester, Lancashire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I've wide taste in dance music but I'm extremely picky. I've listened to most of the Fabric mixes, own a few I really rate (Global Comms, Carl Craig), a few I don't, but most of the Fabric mixes are poor, forgettable, lookalike affairs. This one, like the Cut Copy one I just bought with it are honest, straight-up, well-made party records and they do the business.

I've not been too taken with the breaks scene, so much of it being derivative hybrids of genres with none of the charm of the originals. Have to say this mix was an education in some of the more interesting stuff going on. I love the rock and punk influence on this. It's heavy but not heavy-handed. It's a genuinely rocking mix, brilliantly mixed and paced. Hard to imagine it wouldn't move any open-minded dancefloor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different, 15 Jan 2007
If your a fan of Evil Nines DJ style of 'if its got a good groove play it' then you'll like this. Completely different to their Y4K, theyve gone for a more electro feel on this mix (theres only a couple of breaks tracks on it) but its got a real groove. One for the open minded breaks/electro fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Evil Nine Rock Fabric, 20 Jul 2006
By R. Mullaney (Leeds, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Marine Parade breaks B-boys Evil Nine mix Fabriclive 28, the latest in a run of excellent breakbeat mixes from the London clubs record label.

The mix is pretty similar to the Freeland one. They opt for a grungier sound with growling bass-lines and snarling guitars. Its a very uptempo high energy set broken up with moments of fun like Uffies 'Ready to Uff' or Justices remix of Franz Ferdinands 'The Fallen'. The mixing is all spot on and they end the set on a high note with the classic Clash track, 'London Calling'.

Personally, this mix introduced me to a brand new sound of distortion and saturation. From the characteristic breaks of Evil Nine's remix of "Where Is It? Read more
