Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Harry, Ron, and Hermione are back! The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire videogame will release in November in conjunction with the Warner Bros. Pictures film based on J.K. Rowling's fourth book. Experience the thrilling moments of the movie and put your magic to the ultimate test in co-operative play with up to two friends.

In the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire videogame, licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Harry is mysteriously selected as the fourth contestant in the dangerous Triwizard Tournament. Each competitor in the international competition must confront a fire-breathing dragon, rescue friends from the icy depths of the Black Lake, and navigate the twisting mysteries of a vast, dangerous maze. Players can experience the thrills of the movie from the Quidditch World Cup campsite to a heart-stopping duel with Lord Voldemort himself!

Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all playable characters, modeled after their big-screen counterparts. An all-new spell-casting system allows players to really feel the magic for the first time as the controller shakes and reacts with every flick of the wand. Gamers can team up with friends in co-operative play to combine magic and produce more powerful spells than ever before!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Nintendo DS), 16 Jan 2006
By Luke (England) - See all my reviews
I love this game - even though the graphics are a bit 2-D, the gameplay makes up for it.
Also, it is very easy on Nintendo DS, so you might be able to complete it in a short time.
The game also contains fun mini-games and a little feature called 'Care of Magical Creatures' where you get to look after one of Hagrid's Nifflers, a bit like the game Nintendogs!
My favourite level, however, has to be the Yule Ball. It's a bit like a dance mat, but when the picture of a button passes the green bar in the middle, you have to press that button PERFECTLY in time. It is quite hard, but it's still very fun.
Also there are 10 other VERY long levels which are a tiny bit challenging sometimes but you get the hang of what you have to do quickly.
Here is what I think the ratings of the parts of the game are:

GRAPHICS: 8/10
SOUND/MUSIC: 9/10
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
DIFFICULTY: EASY
LIFESPAN: 7/10
OVERALL: 8.5/10

You might think why I gave the graphics 8/10. This is because sometimes, you might have what the game calls a '3-D Magical Encounter'. When this happens, the graphics immediately become A LOT more sharp and you get to use the Touch Screen.
Basically, I think you should get this game as quick as possible. It always throws away my boredom and puts me in a high mood. Buy it.

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I was a little apprehensive when I purchased this game as I was unsure if I would be able to complete it! I know that may sound a little soft but I have tried Playstation versions of HP and been very put off by their difficulty. The PC games are good but if you want something portable then you need a console.

I was pleasantly therefore surprised by this Nintendo DS game. It was enjoyable and I didn't spend all my time completely frustrated by a lack of progress in the game. You can play as any of the three characters for each section though once you've made your choice for the level you can't change your mind part way through. The controls are easy to use and understand and it does some justice to JK Rowling's creation.

Obviously no game ever gets it completely right but this has lots of little side games that you can unlock along the way and you can help care for your very own Niffler. Again the objective of each level is to win Wizard cards and in this game the Triwizard Shields.

I have to say that this is a good game for anyone wanting something fun but not too challenging or furstrating.

Good entertainment and one that I would heartily recommend!

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Quite a good game with plenty of amusing and challenging tasks. The last task fighting voldemort took me quite a while. Interesting mini games and the Yule Ball task was very funny.
