I bought this absolutely ages ago when it first came out, and it was probably, alongside Tiefschwarz's Misch Masch comp, my first foray into what I now term techno (although to use that to describe this would be verging on an injustice).

I cannot believe that it's taken so long for the first review to pop up here and now I feel compelled to share my sentiments too. This is a cracker of a compilation that moves through several aspects of emerging mainstream techno/electro. And I actually disagree that the tracks are obvious...they are well-known tunes now, for sure, but at the inception of this album these were unheard gems. Particular mention goes to the fine remix work of Robag Whrume of Slam's This World, and James Holden's take on Andre Kraml's Safari, a belter of a track in both its remixed and original forms.

The mix undulates with warm basslines and nu-disco synths, each track providing a new and interesting listening experience. It's down to the subtelties of the tunes themselves and the progressive aspect of the mix that mean you can listen to this again and again...and again. It really is that good.

This album sets the tone for later releases on Get Physical and you might even go as far as saying that MANDY's mix makes Get Physical, particularly as it showcases the unforgettable Body language and Mandarine Girl. After the release of this album, the label has been consistently voted in the top 10 of forward-thinking dance music record labels and continues to put out innovative and unique tunes.

Sadly the Body Language Series has never really lived up to this release, DJ T's mix is good but doesn't quite cut the mustard like this one.

A timeless record that any dance-music lover should have in his collection. Classic status in my view!

First heard MANDY in New York and wasn't that impressed but the locals raved about them. Obviously getting old. This is quality. Some excellent mixes of a few obvious tunes, yes, but MANDY pulls together a dirty collection. Thanks to Clare.
