I've been researching the notion of a viable, sustainable, small family farm and have read many books on the subject. In this book George Henderson reveals the truth about starting a small farm from nothing. That it is possible, and it can be profitable and enjoyable. He doesn't deny the hard work involved, but neither does he "professionalise" and mystify everything the farmer needs to consider.

A wonderful, inspirational read. I wish I had known the author personally, but reading his book gives me a bond with him. I shall try to implement the principles of his farming ladder in the management of my own small farm venture.
