    At first glance this product looks very much like its professional big brother (Premiere Pro) with a consumer/approachable interface. Like all video-editing packages it support DVD burning, as you might expect. It does not have many of the one click toys featured by much of the competition, however this can be good as you learn faster and have greater control over whats going on.

    The crowded interface can be a bit annoying, but you can save your work-space, so you can select your favourite workspace and stick to it.

    This package is for people who are looking to go that extra step further, it does not have many of the gimmicks of the competitors (i do miss a auto-edit feature) and would be a solid platform from which to learn and then develop into using more professional level software.
    Adobe have been successful in clearly developing a powerful engine without dumbing every action and taking the fun out of video editing!

    I had previously used Pinnacle Studio 9 for my video editing. I never had one project that ran smoothly from start to finish. The software was so flawed and bug-ridden that it seemed to demand a new patch be downloaded every time I launched it. Moreover, each successive 'fix' led to worse problems than before!

    Thank goodness for Adobe, and the new consumer version of their professional video editor, Premiere.

    Anyone serious about their home movies will know that video eats a lot of gigabytes, so either a lot of spare space or, even better, a separate, dedicated hard drive is essential. Given that, Adobe Premiere Elements works like a dream. You have the choice of capturing video direct to the timeline (and then removing the bits you don't want), or assembling in the traditional way by adding as you go along. Trimming and rearranging clips is INCREDIBLY simple. It can handle up to 99 audio tracks and several video tracks. It also comes with a cornucopia of transitions and visual effects (including blue screen). The icing on the cake is that you can render these as you go along, thus saving tons of time when you come to make your DVD.

    The titler is comprehensive, but is let down by the fact that any pictures you use must form a background and cannot be used as standalone graphics.

    The only one of the Premiere Elements that stops me from giving this software five stars is the DVD menu maker. It has to be said that it comes with a VERY basic selection of menus. Moreover, apart from the facility to change the text, they offer the user absolutely nothing in the way of customisation. However, I suppose it's something that will be addressed in future editions.

    For now, I'm more than happy. It is comprehensive, easy to use and above all, RELIABLE!

    At last an execellent trouble free software package. Prior to this I was using Pinnacle Studio but I am afraid after version seven it was never reliable and built up not films but frustrations. No more, Premiere has resolved all that, once you have got your head round the apparantly complex interface the system is quite easy to follow and programme crashing is now a thing of the past. It is a great pity Adobe didn't put a little more thought and effort into the accompanying manual which to say the least is not the best in the world. In places it is confusing and there is too much reliance on the 'help' section. All in all though it is a great package and one to be recommended.
