This replaces my previous review of this item, which wrongly assumed it was the group's first album, also entitled INCENSE & PEPPERMINTS.

It is, in fact, a compilation - tracks 1, 2, 3 & 9 ARE from the first album, tracks 4 & 5 from the 2nd, entitled "Wake up, it's tomorrow," track 6 from the 3rd, "World in a seashell," track 7 from the 4th, "Good morning starshine," tracks 8 & 11 (the same song) is the B side of "Incense & Peppermints" single, while track 10 is from some later album (I think).

Not only is this not their first album, it is also not the best compilation available. STRAWBERRIES MEAN LOVE on the 'Big Beat' label contains 21 tracks, from 1967-70, with a running time of 64 minutes.

The essence of my review remains valid, however. SAC were fairly competent & well-produced, with above-average songwriting abilities, their first two albums being excellent examples of psychedelia - a sort of cross between the Beach Boys & Spirit, with organ, flute, vibes & other effects thrown in. Most importantly, they seemed to capture the spirit of the times better than most.

With apologies for misleading readers with previous review.
