Product Description

CD Description

One year after their self-titled debut appeared in 1970 (entitled VERY 'EAVY VERY 'UMBLE in) England, Uriah Heep struckagain with their sophomore effort, LOOK AT YOURSELF. While their debut was a solid slice of blues-based heavy metal, LOOK AT YOURSELF expanded the band's sound, bridging the straight-ahead approach of their early work with the more challenging and progressive work of their next release, SALISBURY.
Highlights include such mega heavies as the album openingtitle track and the Deep Purple-esque "Love Machine", as well as the surprisingly jazz-inflected "What Should Be Done".Due to it's consistency, many a longtime Heep fan considersLOOK AT YOURSELF to be the band's finest hour.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Young & Major Uriah Heep Fan, 25 April 2006

Yes, it is a terrific album,But it's for certain taste. If your into slightly gothic hippy alternative then Uriah Heep is a must have in the collection. The band have been around for over 33 years and still remain my favourite band of all time, not to forget they're under-rated.

David Byron on lead vocals makes this another classic ERA of good rock music,I doubt it would dissapoint you. The only reason I gave 4 Stars is because it's not my favourite album out of them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Going for the jugular in style, 20 April 2007

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
After the grand ambition of 'Salisbury' and before the Wizardworld era, UH
found time to make an album on which they simply rocked out. This is it. A collection of love songs with few cliches, the music is intense, at times white-hot. Though the whole band are on top form, the album is a particular triumph for Ken Hensley, whose gothic organ runs are prominent for most of its duration. His galloping rhythms on the title track herald a marvellous, high-adrenaline approach. 'July Morning' is the joker in the pack, an eerie number from the school of 'Stairway To Heaven' epics, though it predates that recording and, no, it doesn't sound the same. A couple of the tracks slow the tempo a little, serving as interludes, but this is essentially an example of why rock bands are at their best when they just do what comes naturally.

5.0 out of 5 stars try it, it'll surprise you!, 11 Nov 2005
Superb lead vocals & harmonies characterise the band's music and never more so than in Look At Yourself. The title track, "Tears in my eyes" and "July morning" contain just so much variety, and remembering this was 1971, it is easy to understand why Uriah Heep influenced many rock bands that followed. Sadly, they didn't get due recognition at the time but nonetheless, this remains a classic rock album
