Gardening fashion statement?, 25 May 2009
I wear them all the time when gardening (which doesn't half look good with shorts ;-) ). Having bought them several years ago they are standing up reasonably well, just wearing a bit at the corners of the pads. The velcro adjustments have stayed "sticky" and there is a good range of adjustment. When these bite the dust (as opposed to the mud) I will definitely replace them with the same.

Ok, not quite what I'd hoped, 15 Sep 2009
Product arrived promptly and as advertised, I found these to be ok - they are quite flexible and when they're over your knees they're absolutely fine, but I found them difficult to keep in place - they kept working their way aroung the sides of my knees and I found I had to constantly re-adjust them, for this reason I cannot fully recommend them

These inexpensive, convenient rubber pads are probably intended for protecting your knees during gardening activities, mainly, but actually I bought them for every sort of small jobs around the house involving kneeling down on the floor.
For instance, when I have to unblock my kitchen sink or unclog the pipe below it, in the past I usually put a couple of cushions under my knees, in order to do it without having to buy a wheelchair afterwards...
Unfortunately, the problems with that were that:
1) the cushions usually had to be disposed of immediately afterwards, since they got soaked, _really_ dirty and smelled as if someone had taken them for a ride in the local sewers...
2) the cushions _moved_ on the floor, so I ended up having to readjust them constantly while I worked.
With these pads, all of this is not necessary; you just need to tie them around your knees (over and under them) with self-attaching strips, that are strong and long enough to be adjusted precisely to different leg sizes, and they are so long that they leave you enough slack to be able to "slide" a little on them while you are on the floor/ground, which helps a lot during complicated movements.
Moreover, since the external surface is in neoprene (the kind of rubber used for wetsuits), they keep your knees and even your pants (if any) dry and clean even if you are kneeling on a very wet/dirty floor (did you ever had to clean washing machine filers? Anyone?), and can be cleaned quite easily afterwards.
By the way, the fact that they can be put on, removed and adjusted in _seconds_, thanks to the self-attaching strips, and that you do not even need to remove your work pants to do it, is a real plus.
They are not extremely flexible, though, since they are not articulated in any way and are made from a single piece of padding, so they are not very comfortable for _walking_ while they are on, (hence the missing star); therefore, for tilers or people having to work on hard surfaces for a long time, there are probably more appropriate and resistant articulated knee pads available, but for gardening or generic quick jobs around the house involving kneeling down on wet, humid or just dirty hard surfaces, they are a blessing!
My knees highly recommend and approve these!
