Fantastic, but not perfect, 9 Mar 2004
It's small, sleek, light, fast, it's got every type of connectivity you could want, and the screen's great. The integration with Outlook is extremely good, and I've never had a problem connecting to access points with the WiFi card (except to a D-Link ADSL modem/wireless router, which it just doesn't see for some reason).Downsides. The handwriting recognition is good, very good, and much faster than graffiti for example (which you can also use if you want to, along with an on screen keyboard). *But*, it sometimes is not good at isolated letters, and I just can't get it to recognise a capital T or an X in isolation, no matter what I do. If it's got a word to put it into context then it's fine, but it can be an irritation. Overall, it's brilliant. The email works instantly and easily, it connects on GPRS thru bluetooth completely painlessly, and it's a pleasure to use. Only the shortish battery life on WiFi (about 2.5 hours as opposed to about 5-6 when you're not using the WiFi) and the niggles with handwriting recognition stop me giving it full marks.
