A new age... That of KRONOS and the TITANS!!!, 26 Dec 2003
Ensemble Studios and Microsoft bring you the Titans, the official expansion for age of Mythology. Before I tell you about the game I will go over the technical stuff. The same hardware is required for the Titans as in Age of Mythology, despite the games great graphics, sounds and visuals; ES and Microsoft are being very lienient, only 450mhz is required to play an almost all computers made within the last 3 years are well above that. The Titans is also not very consuming on hard disk space, taking up a mere 500MB on top of the original AOM, and now for the game. Many things are new to the game, there is a whole new civilisation, The Atlanteans, allowing the major gods Kronos(who gives cheaper siege and myth), Oranus (who gives sky passages allowing you to get your units all around the map in a split second) and Gaia (plants grow out of all her buildings). With the 3 major gods comes 12 minor gods, all of which being Titans like Atlas, Prometheus and Rheia. A 12 scenario campaign is introduced, covering the events after the fall of Atlantis is a very emersive storyline of treachery, misunderstandment and of course ... Titans. Some players (the sadists(j/k)) may have not liked it in any Age of games, that in Random map(a regular game) there was no horribly massive unit that was all powerful, such was the case in AOM, but now all those people rejoice, in Random map you can make titans, its a long proceidure but the Titan(there is a unique titan for each civilisation) is the most powerful unit ever imagined; thousands of hit points, absorbs 95% of all damage, unless you have another Titan, you are dead. Many may be concerned about the balance of the game, the Atlanteans are balanced with the other civs although are drastically different to wat AOK was, even by Norse standards. The graphics are just as immersive as the original, just as compelling, just as irresistable, just as... identical. Although a change wasn't expected. The detail on the 5 new random maps are well placed and make games even more interesting. The new music and sound are great. From numerous amounts of people chanting(which sounds great) to dramatic music to suit a moment, also the sound when a Titan stomps around and crushes everything is so low frequency everything seems to vibrate around you(although I doubt it actually does) All in all the Titans is a great, worthy expansion, it will make your AOM experience much richer.
