Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The mind-bending success of the reality TV series The Osbournes has made Ozzy Osbourne more famous for his shaky hands and sweary tantrums than infernal heavy metal racket. Time for a quick fix, then: recorded at the Tokyo arena first made famous by Cheap Trick's 1979 disc Live At Budokan, Live At The Budokan (note subtle difference) is a rudimentary primer through Osbourne's musical activities over the last 30-odd years. There are serviceable renditions of monster solo hits like "No More Tears" and "Bark at the Moon", an encore of Black Sabbath's warhorse "Paranoid" and an impressive amount of cursing between songs. Astoundingly, Osbourne sounds no worse for wear than he did on 1993's similarly primordial--if slightly more generous--Live & Loud!. --Aidin Vaziri

CD Description

'Live At The Budokan' was recorded during Ozzy Osbourne's tour of the Far East in February 2002. Features live tracks from his solo albums, as well as three previously unreleased studio tracks, including 'Black Skies' from Ozzy's own videogame. This CD coincides with the DVD release of the same concert.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Live Ozzy!, 27 Jun 2002
By Mr N Reed (Paignton, Devon United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This new live album is excellent. After just seeing the Double O' @ Ozzfest, this is just what you need to keep the live experience fresh in your mind. 10 years on from Ozzy's last live album, 'Live and Loud', and he doesn't sound any worse off from gaining a few years.
The only thing that's missing, is 'Suicide Solution'. I'm sure when I read the set list for this concert, it said that he played that song? Oh well, the album is still brilliant without it, and the live versions of 'Gets Me Through', 'Junkie' and 'That I Never Had', sound great too.
ROLL ON THE DVD!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit superflous, 20 Jul 2003

"Live at the Budokan" is a bit of a mixed blessing. Ozzy sounds good, and the presence of guitarist Zakk Wylde ensures some highly competent heavy metal guitar playing.

Yet "Budokan" just doesn't feel necessary. Sure, it has live renditions of a few songs that haven't previously been available on any of Ozzy's numerous live albums, but the large majority of the 13 tracks were also included on 1993's "Live & Loud" in equally good or better versions, and many of them can also be found on the excellent "Tribute" album featuring Ozzy Osbourne's late guitar player Randy Rhoads.

All in all, I feel that both "Live & Loud" and "Tribute" are better and more interesting live albums. That's not to say that "Budokan" is a bad album, far from it. It just feels too much like a lesser attempt to repeat "Live & Loud", and thus doesn't really add anything of interest to the Ozzy legacy.
