Every note Edwync creates is a homage to the great and the good of the music scene, he is a walking Brittanica of the muse and he blends and mixes his tunes together so well. Dr Syntax, naturally, is missing a small amount of the verve of his early output with Orange Juice, whose "You can't hide your love forever" album is the best debut of all time, but it still shows a canny respect for his forefathers on the scene and more importantly, it carries a tune better than many of his contemporaries.

If you've not discovered Edwyn's immense catalogue yet, this is a good place to start, but make sure you don't stop there!

Probably the most underated artist around, Collins comes up trumps again. This is another eclectic colection of well written, superbly developed tunes that should not be missed!

A real gem of an album and fully concur with the other reviews thus far. Edwyn is one of the true greats of the "new wave", and on Doctor Syntax sounds as sanguine now as he did on the first OJ album - lets hope he makes a full recovery!
