Product Description

CD Description

Can't get enough of 'N Sync, the Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears? Then Mandy Moore's sophomore album wants to come into your life, and it would be a shame not to let it.
Like the aforementioned teen idols, Moore dispenses candy-coated escapist fluff that combines updated '50s ballads ("Your Face"), dance music (the remix of the title song), and Eurodance ("The Way to My Heart"), the lingua franca of international pop since Ace Of Bass. Moore isn't a terribly subtle singer, but she's remarkably accomplished for a 16-year old, and, tellingly, she's mastered that essential post-Mariah Carey vibrato that has become a signifier for X-E-S spelled backwards. Disposable music doesn't get any better.

5.0 out of 5 stars A class act from the Delectable Ms Moore, 4 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Mandy Moore is an artist who is easily underrated, having come after her more sucessful chart rivals Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. However this album is by far the best of the 3 artists debuts. While Britneys was samey and in places dull, and Christinas favoured vocal style over lyrical and musical substance, Moore gets the balance just right. Opening with the Hugely underrated #21 hit "i wanna be with you" a song showing vocal flair and lyrical depth, we are taken on a journey of heartwarming Ballads and storming uptempo numbers. Candy remains as fun as ever, and What you want shows Mandy oozing with confidence on a storming track. So real is also a great attitude filled punchy track, while Everything my heart desires, bizarrely originally recorded by Adam rickitt, sounds rejuvinated thanks to Mandy's vocal flair. Want you back is a fantastic Vocal performance and would have rocketted into the top 5 if released. Lock me in your heart and the way to my heart are both sweet tracks, and much better than Britneys album tracks, which are easily skippable. Walk me home is a silky smooth ballad showing strong vocals on a song that wouldn't be out of place on a Janet Jackson album. I like it, written by Howie from Backstreet boys, with whom moore has toured the states, does skate close to nauseating, but it grows on you. Finally Album closer "your face" is the best Ballad Celine Dion never recorded. Mandys strongest vocal performance to date, truly poetic lyrics delivered with such heartbreaking conviction itis genuilnely upsetting. An absolute gem and a must buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars some lively and well sung songs with good backing music, 29 Mar 2008

I didn't like the first four songs of this cd at all but the 9 other songs are lively and well sung with good backing music and some nice lyrics.People have said that Mandy Moore is like Britney Spears but Britney could have sung any of these songs and made them sound a lot better - Mandy Moore can't produce the same variety and quality of sounds when she sings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic...the only album I can listen over and over again!, 11 Nov 2003
Mandy Moore's best album! I've listened to all the songs she's ever released and this album is my favourite. Every song is brilliant, it wavers slightly near the end, but still good!
It's good when you feel especially lovey-dovey either happy or depressed. Songs are light and happy and pop with a few ballads. I listen to this all the time and it never fails to amaze me how much I like it.
Best songs are: Candy, I wanna be with you, Walk me home, Your face...
Hope this review has helped and I do think this album is woth your money! Give yourself a treat! Perfect St. Valentine's Day present.
