The Mad Caddies have really put me on the edge of my seat now with this EP release, I just cannot wait for their new album if it is going to be similar to this mini-masterpiece.

The five tracks show a new maturity in this jazz-influenced ska/punk band, with more experimental sounds such as the banjo introduction to 'Falling Down'. The songs are similar in style to the more upbeat songs on 'Duck and Cover', but are delivered with more energy and an increased urgency. The band seem to have left much of their ska beginning behind, and are turning into a less manic 'Less Than Jake'.

I have to mention the cover version of ABBA's S.O.S. It is a true classic in its own right, with horns replacing the original guitar in the chorus, and a chugging guitar section in the pre-chorus which is well known of the Caddies.

This is a great addition to my CD collection.

IT IS WORTH BUYING THIS EP FOR THE S.O.S. COVER ALONE .... V. GOOD AND SKANKY! HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE STRAPPED FOR CASH IT IS A BIT PRICEY FOR ONLY FIVE SONGS, SO FOR PEOPLE BUYING THEIR FIRST MAD CADDIES ALBUM I WOULD RECOMMEND ONE OF THEIR OTHERS. NOT A DISSAPOINTMENT SO IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT BUY IT!

This EP showcases the Mad Caddies at their riotous best - infectious melodies, perfect rhythms and unforgettable trumpet riffs.
The EP starts with perhaps the Caddies best song to date, 'Falling Down'. Everything about this song is great, from the '40s sounding intro, to the slow verse and absolutely fantastic chorus. Every fan of modern punk needs to hear this song because it is the Caddies at their absolute best.
Unfortunately, the rest of the EP never reaches these heights again, but that isn't to say the rest of the songs aren't great!
'Something's Wrong at the Playground' is a Rancid-style punk rock song, and is extremely catchy.
The closing track, a cover of ABBA's S.O.S., is quite simply ingenius. Who could have thought a pop song could be turned into a punk song so easily?

Overall, if you are a Caddies fan you should definately buy this EP. If you are new to the Caddies you should perhaps start off with 'Just One More', the Caddies 4th album and my all time favourite album.

If just want a short, sharp treat though, buy this.
