5.0 out of 5 stars Best live Ozzy, 21 Jul 2003
By Docendo Discimus (Vita scholae) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
I'm not usually much of a heavy metal fan...too much thrashing and roaring and not enough groove for me.

But this is actually a great album. John "Ozzy" Osbourne may not be the greatest contemporary composer of all time, but he and his various bands through the 80s and 90s have actually managed to turn out more than a few well-wrought, even melodious, rock songs.

This is not only Ozzy Osbourne's best live album, to me it's one of the best albums of his career. The sound is great, the band is great, Ozzy himself is in great voice, and last but not least: The track selection is superb.

"Live & Loud" features most of Ozzy Osbourne's best and most accessible songs, including the Black Sabbath-classics "Paranoid" and "Black Sabbath", and the cream of Ozzy's solo years: "Mr Crowley", "Road To Nowhere", "Crazy Train", "Mama I'm Coming Home", "Shot In The Dark", "Bark At The Moon" etc.

Okay, so Zakk Wylde may be trying a bit too hard at times, and you get tired of Ozzy's constant (and unvaried) use of expletives after a while, but those are minor complaints.
Even a casual Ozzy-fan (such as myself) will enjoy this fine live album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!, 4 Jan 2003
By A Customer
This is an amazing album, a greatest hits if you will. Ozzy is absolutely electric as ever, with the band not far behind him. It opens with the classic, and in my opinion best ever Ozzy song, Paranoid. The opening riffs have you soaring on a magnificent high, it's giving me goosebumps just thinking about it. The rest of the first CD is amazing, the guitar solo and Mr. Crowley being tracks of note.

The second CD opens well, and moves onto another Ozzy classic, No More Tears. The bass line has me preparing to headbang even before the drum beat starts. Ozzy ends his set with Crazy Train, yet another classic. Then the whole of Black Sabbath do a medley of songs, though I have heard no 'Sabbath so can't comment.

Finally, just to prove that he hasn't lost his touch, Ozzy sings Changes, note perfect and enough to bring you to the brink of tears. What's more, it's excellent to sing along to.

I must add that you must be aware that there is a lot of swearing on the CDs, but who cares it's 'Ozzy Osbourne, man' :D.

5.0 out of 5 stars Necessity! , 27 Dec 2008
By Flemming Nielsen (Denmark) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Live and Loud is a truly awesome album. Too many live albums have weak audience feedback or the band's sound is a bit distorted. Not this one. This album is what any live album should aspire to. You get two great disks of Ozzy at his best - the sound is clear, the songs are powerful and the crowd goes wild. The energy Ozzy pours out to the crowd and their massive response makes your hair tingle and your fingers itch to turn the volume knob just a little further to the right.. and I say go for it. Don't worry your speakers can take it. And if not? Well, what a way for them to die.
