3.0 out of 5 stars Strictly for the dancefloor, 8 Dec 2002
By Pieter "Toypom" (Johannesburg) - See all my reviews
(TOP 10 REVIEWER)
This was the dance remix of their great album Natural History, and a bit of a disappointment. Although very danceable, the harsh beat has the tendency to drown out the delicate sound of the group and to overshadow the subtleties of the music. Perhaps it's not an unimaginative remix for dancefloor purposes, but it certainly doesn't improve the music. Not for Talk Talk loyalists.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sheep in the Rainforest, 25 Oct 2009
By Nicholas Casley (Plymouth, Devon, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Great title: a play on the title of the `best of' package released in the previous year (`Natural History'), with revisiting consisting of remixes of the `best of'. So what do we get for our money?

Amongst the remixing we get more echo, we have voices and bass higher in the mix, we have added rhythm tracks, and some of the original rhythms are made more choppy. In one track, `Today' mixed by Gary Miller layers have been removed to give the song more space. The `tropical rainforest' remix of `It's My Life' by Dominic Woosey is restrained, but with added animal noises, although I'm not sure that sheep and seagulls would be found in a tropical rainforest.

In conclusion, the originals are much better. Most of the remixes here are destined for the dancefloor. There is no radicalism, alas. In short, this is a curiosity for the die-hard fan only.
