1986 was the year that Roxette broke through with their 1st big hit 'Neverending Love'.....in Sweden anyway.The rest of the world had to wait until 1988 and the 'Look Sharp!' album.
This however their very 1st album is a mixed bag of pop songs and ballads.It sounds a bit experimental but i think that's probably what made it sound as good as it does for an 80's synth pop album.it doesn't always work i never did and still don't like 'Surrender' but i like all the other tracks in some way.The upbeat numbers are the best but the trademark ballads are on good form here too even at this early stage in their career.A GREAT ALBUM

I liked this first roxette cd better than their latest "have a nice day", though that's quite good also. But this cd was made before their big breakthrough, and is certainly worthwile buying. required listening for all roxette fans! Roland.

This is Roxette's first album, with many fantastic different types of songs on it. Fast and catchy such as "Soul Deep", "Secrets that she keeps", "Goodbye to you," and slower songs such as "From one heart to another." There are two Christmas songs - one of which is "Must Have Been Love" but the "winter's day" instead has "Christmas day". It isn't as good as their later version, but still pleasant to listen to. There are two versions of "Secrets that she keeps", the version with Per Gessle singing solo is not so good, but the other version is excellent. Three versions of "Neverending Love" and "I Call Your Name" all with different beats. If you've bought their greatest hits album and liked it, I recommend buying "Pearls of Passion" beause you'll come to love it.
