This book was written by the founder of the Triratana Buddhist Order ( formerly Western Buddhist Order). It is an account of Sangharakshita's contact with eastern Buddhism in his youth, how he went to India and the development of his own distinctive branch of Buddhism now established in both the West and India which encompasses many aspects of different schools of Buddhism. At the heart of the Triratana Order is effective Going for Refuge; Buddhism not as a philosophy or a set of practices, but a profound and lasting change in one's whole life.
