Reviews
‘This chunky little volume … reads more like your hippest good friend… Inside is a selection of locals’ favourite parts of the city, with directions and roughly sketched backstreet maps to the coolest cafés. What you won’t find is how to get from the airport to La Rambla or the cost of admission to the Sagrada Familia. Instead you will find an intriguing mix of some of the best Barcelona has to offer a youthful audience, away from the tourist hordes.’
Aoife O'Riordain, "The ten best guidebooks in the world", The Independent on Sunday, January 2006

‘It has a plain red cover so you won't stand out as a guidebook-using tourist while sipping mojitos in cool bars, and contains information on where to find drugs, sex and designer sunglasses, with no mention of Gaudi.’
Gemma Bowes, The Observer, September 2004

‘An essential guide to the underground and alternative Barcelona.’ Vogue (Portugal), October 2004

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic alternative to the usual recipes, 20 Dec 2006
By Ed Jie (Switzerland) - See all my reviews
I usually stick with the "Rough Guide" series of guides, but for my first trip to Barcelona, I thought I'd try something a bit different. LeCool has great design, and is small enought to discretely read without looking too much like a tourist. The mix of "rough and ready" combined with a personal but cool style works really well. The unusual artwork makes the book an inviting read by itself. Oh, and it was accurate enough to be worth buying, even for weekend city break.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a cool guide!!, 5 Mar 2007
By Jas (London) - See all my reviews
This book ought to be the coolest guide ever! It such a good read even if you're not looking to go to Barcelona! It's so innovative and personalised, something you don't find alot in travel guides. Le Cool should write more guides!!

Only bad point would be the fact that you have to read the entire book first to familarise with what the author recommends before heading out the streets or it will be quite confusing. Wouldn't recommend it for people who are looking to find fast facts and guides about the city.

What a great book! I've been to Barcelona numerous times before and its refreshing to finally read a guide that tells you something totally different. The graphics are amazing, as are the selection of bars and club and the commentaries are great and written with truth and thought!

2.0 out of 5 stars Relentlessly hip
This book is so cool it hurts. Arty photos, multiple fonts in different colours, random highlighting of words, text printed sideways or upside down. Read more
