5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coverage and recommendations, 27 Feb 2002
By A Customer
This book is several books in one; a travel guide and a very readable history guide. We found the background on the region it gave us put us at an advantage in understanding the culture. The reference sections were good for their help with the language and for finding the right places to visit. We tried out several of the accomodation recommendations and were not disappointed,in fact we felt the book had under-sold the quality. Well recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars A stylish and superior guide, 17 Jan 2003

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Everything about this book is stylish. In comparison with this sleek volume other guides look as cumbersome as portable paperweights. The writing is of a very high quality, and the author presents all of the flavours and nuances that give Andalucia its appeal. There are a series of interesting and well-researched essays on the hitory, art and architecture of the province. Sections on topics ranging from hot-blooded Andalucian women to the Hercules connection prove that individuality still survives in a world of mass-produced travel guides.

The section that provides practical details is very helpful. The only drawback I found was that the number of accomadation listings fell on the short side and that their locations were not indicated on the maps. Also, whilst the listings did include some cheap options it was not exactly overladened with them. So this is not the guide for the impecunious backpacker. One other snag - the prices were still listed in pesetas when I purchased the guide (July 2002). Other than these observations I cannot fault this impressive and attractive guide.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well written but eventually a disappointment., 13 Jun 2003
By A Customer
I know it's terrible to pick on such things, but there were many, many misspellings of Spanish places, names, etc. It made me wonder if they were so careless about checking such simple things, what else did they not check?
