This so called encyclopedia is maybe the most inspiring book to buy if you feel the wintergloom weighing you down.
It consists of 5 sections; one on each subject - Aromatherapy, Shiatsu, Massage, Reflexology, and my favourite - yoga.
The Aromatherapy chapter takes you through the basics of aromatherapy, introduces the most common essential oils and their different uses, and a whole lot of nice relaxing tips.
It also presents a basic aromatherapy massage programme.
The Shiatsu chapter introduces you to a rather easy to perform shiatsu-session.
In the massage section of the book you find different massage routines; a whole body massage, massage for infants, self massage, sensual massage and more. It shows you the basic techniques, and also helps you deal with injuries you may have gotten.
The reflexology chapter gives you a couple of foot charts, and teaches you the basic reflexology techniques.
The best part is, in my opinion, still the yoga section. This is the Iyengar way of yoga, a very achievable yoga style that consists of exercises for all levels, with modifications where needed. The chapter contains programmes for menstruation, headaches, stiff neck and shoulders, backaches and stiff hips - plus the ten week course. This course gives you a new set of exercises for each day of the week, keeping the course interesting and giving you variation. It builds up gradually to follow your achievement, and soon you'll be hooked! The best part is - it only takes 30 minutes a day, and I can assure you all there is no better way to awaken a tired body in the morning.
So - if you cherish your self, or you don't enough and you want to treat yourself to a little relaxation - this is the book. Using this encyclopedia is like going to your own spa, and you'll surely feel invigorated, even just after reading it! The pictures are beautiful and informative, the authors have done a good job on the writing, and it has a handy size to fit in your bag. What more can you want?
