5.0 out of 5 stars First Rate Exemplar, 26 Oct 2009
By Dr. Keith G. Town (Auckland. New Zealand) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Since reading of this title's pending publication I have had my order in place and the parcel finally arrived in far off Auckland a few days ago.
Intial impressions...first rate study of the fascinating French Battleships, planned and built and of the careers of the completed units.
Jordan and Dumas are to be congratulated on moving the already high standard of naval vessel monographs,up till now The Kelly's and Taylor's HMS Hood, the examplers a further step forward.
Coloured profiles/artwork, fine drawings and photos and a revealing and detailed text are all present. First class print and production from Seaforth is also hugely valuable.
As a Naval and Technical book enthusiast I cannot recommend French Battleships too strongly, Excellent, Five Stars standard and essential purchase and reading for all steel and steam warship afficenados.
Would it be too much to hope that the authors now complete a French Cruisers title of similar standard used the articles in Warship volumes as a starting point.
Summary...Highly Recommended
