1.0 out of 5 stars a disappointment, 3 Feb 2007
By Mark Kenney "Zinho" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I ordered this book because I used a similar book "Living and Working in Switzerland" by David Hampshire which I found excellent with many practical tips when moving to and out of Switzerland. I mistakenly thought it was of the same genre.

This book has information you can easily find on the internet (in fact much of it is copied directly from the many UK help-sites). There is no practical helpful information based on the authors experience. Also very annoying is the fact there are over thirty pages dedicated to how to write a Cv and prepare for an interview (as if in the UK it is something very special and different).

After I received it I realized there is a book by David Hampshire "Living and Working in Britain" which I am sure is very good from my experience using his book in Switzerland.

I was very disappointed with this book and have found better and more up to date information on the internet. The UK has many good gov't sites to assist. For a personal touch and helpful hints, this is not the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good general Info, 4 Mar 2007
By Criostin (Sheffield, UK) - See all my reviews
This book is a good general source of information and starting point if you're moving to the UK. However, it is out of date & is need of a 6th edition. This is especially so since the Life in the UK test and requirements for Indefinite Leave to Remain are changing as of 1 April 2007.
