Review

"As a ready reference guide this publication fits the bill...it provides a clear and concise text. I particularly liked the mentoring scenarios which give a flavour of the types of issues that may arise." Training Journal"

5.0 out of 5 stars An encouraging way to learn, 10 Nov 2003
By A Customer
As a mentoring 'virgin', although an experienced trainer, I read this handy little book with growing interest. It pointed out that mentoring was as useful to the mentor as mentee and avoided the common trap of using jargon. Its handy size meant it fitted into a bag or pocket with ease so one could dip into it when a few spare moments arose. It was that kind of book - the kind you want to read just a little bit more of before you put it down. After finishing it, I could see lots of occasions in my life when I would consider using these techniques, both professionally and with my family.

On a personal level, after reading the book during a lengthy wait to see my GP, I found my blood pressure had dived to its lowest level for months - bu I can't promise that this is a regular side effect.

1.0 out of 5 stars Simplistic and poorly laid out, 25 Jun 2008
I had high expectations of this book but it has failed to deliver. Much of the content and recommendations are painfully obvious and rather repetitive. Also the page layout is very poor: highly disjointed, disrupting the flow of comprehension.

A very disappointing book for anyone in business looking to mentor people.
