This is an excellent little book, its got an exacting contents page, index for quick access to anything dealt with throughout the book, it starts with an introduction to the Buddha's life, then begins with "Now let's start talking..." proceeds with the subject matter and then under the title of "refill" lists sources for further reading.

The chapters deal with suffering, impermanence, non-self, reincarnation, karma, desire, morality, mindfulness, compassion, the body and the way of the bodhisativa and interdependence, all the essential aspects of the Buddha's thought and teaching.

Each chapter unfolds in an engaging question and answer format, the pace is great and topics very clear, I found myself reading more of it than I'd planned any time I sat down to read. It's true to the humorous title, it really is like having a coffee with the Buddha and talking out all his ideas.

I'd looked for a while for a summary of either the Buddha's ideas or Buddhism and found all sorts of unsatisfactory material, there never seemed to be any middle ground between what are books for believers or academics of religion and the Buddha lite of the pop market. This book is something different.

I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested in Eric Fromm, Maslow or other psychologists who've considered the insights of Zen or religious experiences.
