The "definitive book on camping is a treat to read" and "the best guide to portable living in the Sunshine State this writer has ever seen," wrote Jerry Hill, Outdoors Writer, Bradenton Herald. "At $20.95, this work is a bargain."
Ever since Florida's most comprehensive camping guide arrived on the scene, the reception has been great. In part, that's due to the 669-page book's breadth. Get details on where to enjoy all types of camping -- from a spot only for hangliders to full-service parks for RVs; from hunt camps in the pines to retiree-oriented resorts offering on-site beauty salons and woodworking shops; from remote Everglades sites for kayakers, boaters and canoeists to beachfront wonders for anyone. Want to camp with your horse? These four Florida-based authors tell you where. Theirs is also the only book to offer a rundown on each of the 45 backcountry sites in fabled Everglades National Park.
Don't dream about your next vacation. Start planning it -- now. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
To me, in short, what Florida Camping has going for it is this: Its four Florida-based authors (including me) do the legwork for you. That way you know what to expect before showing up, tired, at the campground.
You know the nagging questions in the back of your mind when you enter a campground: Will it be dominated by RVs? Or tents? Are kids tolerated? Are pets OK? Are the showers hot, cold -- or non-existent? Can I pay with a credit card? What exactly is fun to do there -- is there golf, a pool, a clubhouse, tennis court? What will the place look like, feel like?
Just read the snapshots offered for each campground in this 669-page book, and you'll find the answers.
"Everyone who enjoys camping in Florida should have a copy of 'Florida Camping,'" wrote Orlando Sentinel reporter Don Wilson.
