Product Description

Product Description

It does seem unlikely in our heavily regulated planning system, that it would be possible to carry out any development on agricultural land without planning permission. However as this book will demonstrate it is possible, to live, build a barn and start a business, all without planning permission, on ordinary agricultural land in the United Kingdom.

For those of you who want to buy a field and turn it into a smallholding without planning permission, this book will show you how. It is a guide that exploits loopholes in the current planning system.

It doesn't matter who you are, your background or if you already own land and have experience of working on it. This book will allow you to live your dream, living on the land, working with animals, and being part of the agricultural community.

This is your opportunity to buy cheap agricultural land and create the smallholding you thought you could never afford.

From the Back Cover

Buying a piece of land to buy a house is expensive, so what price would it be to buy a building plot of 15 acres, too dear for most people, if you could find one. The cheapest way of securing a building plot, particularly one with acreage, is to follow the system that is contained in this book. You will be able to live on the land, build a barn and run a profitable business all without planning permission legally.

This book will guide you step by step through to ultimately building your own house. This is the 21st century version of the "Good Life". To create your own small holding and escape the rat race, to start with a field and end up with a farm.

5.0 out of 5 stars INVALUABLE ADVICE WITH ONLINE BACKUP, 27 Feb 2010

Wilst there is no doubt this book is expensive relative to size I took a chance and was not disappointed. It contains information that would require lenghty research even if you knew what you were looking for. On top of this the author answers your questions in the online forum. If this idea appeals to you buy the book and join his online community it will be money well spent.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, but just a primer, 18 Mar 2010
By Imoteb "imoteb" (Living in a field) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Field to Farm (Paperback)
As far as it goes, this is ok.

But you get the feeling that when the author describes suitable rural enterprises, he hasn't really experienced what he's talking about.

It's slim and over-priced.

Best desribed as a primer, you'll need either the author or a planning consultant, or many hours self-study to be able to defend yourself against the inevitable challenges from the local planning authority.

Is it really possible to live in a field and over time get planning permission to legally build a permanent home ?

Sure. But you need to be determined, live with the worry and doubt that in the end you might fail if the 'experts' in your LPA decide you haven't met the 'tests' of essential need etc.

With about 3 times as much detail, including real-life case studies, this would be a good book.

At the moment, it's more of a introductory booklet.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit light, 12 May 2010

Hoped for so much more from this book, there is a lot of cut and paste from Real Small holding so it's a thin volume, both books combined would be worth the money but it's a very expensive read on it's own

Very helpful book. Tells you a lot of information that you probably know already, however, it tells you how to use that information productively.
