When most of us think of felt, we picture either the soft, thick fabric used for craft projects or the felt boards that are popular with elementary school teachers as a storytelling aid. Read the first page

5.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive guide to feltmaking, 9 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Art of Feltmaking: Basic Techniques for Making Jewelry, Miniatures, Dolls, Buttons, Wearables, Puppets, Masks and Fine Pieces (Watson-Guptill Crafts) (Paperback)
Whether you are acomplete beginner or well mastered in the art of felt making the easy to follow instructions in this book will stretch you. Children and adults alike will enjoy making the projects. Especially sucessful were the ropes and little people, which proved popular with all. The vessels (P100) proved a little more tricky, but the enjoyable thing about felt is that a project can often be reworked if not sucessful the first time, or why not add embroidery, beads or buttons, the list is endless. The book includes extremely clear photographs of the stages to follow and , in my opinion is well worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, 6 Dec 2002
By Linda (Sussex United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Art of Feltmaking: Basic Techniques for Making Jewelry, Miniatures, Dolls, Buttons, Wearables, Puppets, Masks and Fine Pieces (Watson-Guptill Crafts) (Paperback)
I was very disappointed in this book. It is quite hard to find good books on this subject, so I had high hopes. When I look at any "craft" book I hope to be inspired, but I thought many of the items shown in the photographs looked poorly made and unfinished. This definitely didn't make me rush off to do a spot of feltmaking. Having said that, I took it into one of my feltmaking classes and sold it on to a classmate who liked it.
Each to their own, I guess...

4.0 out of 5 stars we had fun with this book, 30 Mar 2006

I have undertaken many of the projects from the book as an adult and with children. Not all 100% successful - such as the bead making section. However with a bit more reading around on felting and just experimenting I found I was quickly able to complete a range of projects and start to adapt the books ideas too.
